Happy Diwali and a Happy New Year

Diwali was first celebrated When Lord Ram came back from exile to Ayodhya with Laxman and Maa Sita. The return signified the return of light to the dark lives of the Ayodhya residences and wanted to make Ayodhya so bright that never so all the darkness within Ayodhya would be cleansed.

It marks the victory of Light over darkness. And So we call Diwali a festival of lights. Hope to see you at the Diwali dinner at National Banquet Hall on November 8th 2014 at 6pm.

Wish you all
Happy Diwali
and
a Propersous New year

Happy Dhanteras

Dhanteras, The festival, known as "Dhanatrayodashi" or "Dhanvantari Trayodashi".The word Dhan means wealth and Teras means 13th day as per Hindu calendar. The festival is also know as "Dhandhoras" meaning the day you clean your wealth with respecting and prayer to Goddess Lakshmi . On Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped to provide prosperity and well being. Dhanteras holds special significance for the business community due to the customary purchases of precious metals on this day. Lord Kubera, the God of assets and wealth is also worshiped on this day.

Lotus flowers, sandalwood, vermilion, betel leaves & nuts, fruits and various sweet preparations made from jaggery, rice and coconuts are used for her ritual worship.

When praying we pray to 8 forms of Goddess Lakshmi known as Ashta Lakshmi . They are:

  1. Adi Lakshmi - This is the first manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi
  2. Dhanya Lakshmi - This is the Granary Wealth manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi
  3. Veera Lakshmi - This is the Wealth of Courage manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi

Happy Vijaya Dashami

 Shree Bai Maataki Jai

Happy Navratri to all

9 forms of Maa Durga have been prayed to for blessings and it ends with Vijaya-dashami or Dussehra. The day marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur. Goddess fought with evils for 9 nights and 10 days. The name Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit Dasha-hara literally means The sun will not rise (Dasha(sun) and Hara(defeat)) referring to Lord Rama's victory over the ten-headed demon king Ravana as well.
Navaratri is celebrated five times a year. They are Vasanta Navaratri, Ashadha Navaratri, the Shaarad Navaratri, and the Paush/Magha Navaratri. Of these, the Shaarad Navaratri of the month of Puratashi and the Vasanta Navaratri of the Vasanta kala are the most important.
Presently it is the Shaarad Navaratri. This is the most important of the Navaratris. It is simply called Maha Navaratri (the Great Navratri) and is celebrated in the 'pratipada' (first day) of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Ashvin. Also known as Shaarad Navaratri, as it is celebrated during Sharad (beginning of winter, SeptemberOctober). It started when Lord Ram was going to war with Raavan. Before the fighting begins both sides prayed to Maa Durga to be victorious in the war. It is since then that we have been praying to Maa Durga during the Shaarad Navratri.
Lord Brahma has stated
He who remembers these nine mothers will not suffer even if he is burnt in fire, even if he has gone to war, even if he is very sad, even if he is terribly afraid of war. Anyone who remembers those names with devotion is also are free of these fears and sorrows.

Navratri Day/night 9

Shree Bai Maataki Jai

Happy Navratri to all

Today is the Ninth day of Navratri and tonight we pray to Durga Shakti Maa Siddhidatri. There are eight Siddhis , they are- Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Iishitva & Vashitva. It is said in "Devipuran" that the Lord Shiva got all these Siddhies by worshipping Maha Shakti. With her gratitude the half body of Shiv has became of Goddess and therefore his name "Ardhanarishvar" has became famous.Usually shown ensconced a lotus with four arms, She is the grantor of 26 different wishes to Her Bhaktas.

May the ever victorious Siddhidayini Maa Durga, who is always worshipped by the hordes of siddha, gandharva, yaksha, asura, and Deva, bestow success at my every venture. She is one who was worshiped by Lord Shiva to become in the form of Goddess Ardhnarishwara, then Goddess Shakti Appeared from the left side of Lord Shiva

Navratri Day/night 8

Shree Bai Maataki Jai

Happy Navratri to all

Today is the Eighth day of Navratri and tonight we pray to Durga Shakti Maa Gauri. She is as white as a conch, moon and Jasmine. She is of eight years old. With four arms and the fairest complexion of all the Durgas Shaktis, Mahagauri radiates peace and compassion. She is often dressed in a white or green sari. She holds a drum and a trident and is often depicted riding a bull.

May the Mahagauri Maa Durga who rides a white Vrishaba the bull and who wears spotless white clothes and remains ever pure and also provides ever lasting bliss to Mahadeva Lord Shiva bestow all auspiciousness.

Navratri - Night/Day 7

Shree Bai Maataki Jai

Happy Navratri to all

Today is the Seventh day of Navratri and tonight we pray to Durga Shakti Maa Kaalratri. Black (or blue ) skin with bountiful hair and 4 hands, 2 clutching a cleaver and a torch, while the remaining 2 are in the mudras of "giving" and "protecting". Her vehicle is a faithful donkey. The destroyer of darkness and ignorance. Maa Kaalratri is the seventh form of Nav-Durga meaning scourer of darkness; enemy of darkness.

May she Bhayankari Maa Durga Kaalratri who is with long lips, riding an ass, shining in various hues looks formidable because of the halo of Devi's lustre and is adorned with multi coloured ornaments remove my darkness of ignorance.

Jai Maa Kālarātrī
WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NAVRATRI
