Ramaben Damjibhai Mistry

June 21st, 1936 - October 16th, 2015

We are sad to announce that Ms Ramaben Damjibhai Mistry, mother of Mahendra Kumar Damjibhai Mistry and mother in-law of Bharatiben Mahendra Mistry has departed this life after battling Liver Cirrhosis at her home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on October 16^th, 2015.

Funeral services are going to be held on Monday, October 19th, 2015 10:00 AM, followed by Cremation at 11:30AM.

Happy Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti this year on the 15th January 2015 as per the Gregorian Calendar. What is Makar Sankranti? Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path as per Vedic Astrology. As per Astronomy it is Summer Solstice in India and also it begins a period of Uttarayan. Uttarayan will end during the Winter Solstice in India which is known as Karka Sankranti. In that sense this can also be marked as day light savings time as it follows similar pattern. One of the major reason for celebrating Makar Sankranti is that it is Harvest season in most parts of India. India being a traditionally farming nation harvest season is the most important season for people of India.

Makar Sankrati is traditionally celebrated by flying kites and eating peanut or sesame brittle (chikki).
